Tom Martin - Pole Vault Coach

Coach Martin has been with the Bronco track & field program since its inception in 1991. In that time he has become one of the top pole vault coaches in the United States. He has had 84 athletes qualify to the San Diego Section CIF meet. Nineteen of those athletes have been CIF champions and 41qualified on to the California State meet. Tom has had 13 athletes place at the state finals including three California State Champions. Tom has also had an athlete set the United States High School Federation (USHSF) record (Tracy O’Hara – 13’3”).Coach Martin has had 37 boy vaulters clear 14’0” and 26 girl vaulters clear 10’0”. Tom has earned many awards in his coaching career including the AFLAC Assistant Coach of the Year in 2006 and the United States High School Pole Vault “Coach of the Year in 2012. He is married to Teresa and has a daughter, Chelsea (22).           

Terry Dockery - Girls Distance Coach

Coach Dockery ran competitively into his mid-50’s.  He ran competitively at Glendale Hoover HS and Glendale Junior College, and San Diego State University.  He began his coaching career as an assistant at Mt. Carmel HS in 1990 and came to Rancho Bernardo HS in 1997.  Coach “Doc” has been coaching Track & Field and Cross Country for 24 years. As Head Coach for cross country, Dockery’s teams have won four San Diego Section CIF titles and qualified 14 times to the California State meet.  He has been named the SDSCIF Cross Country “Coach of the Year” three times and has been the meet director of the Bronco Round Up Cross Country Invitational since 2000.  Under his coaching in track, 22 runners have qualified to the California State meet, with 14 athletes qualifying for the State finals in track.  Coach Doc has had athletes win California State titles in both cross country and track.  He has coached some of the greatest distance runners in San Diego history, including Molly Grabill, who was elected to the San Diego Section CIF Hall of Fame’s initial class in 2011.

Marc Lazernik - High Jump Coach

Coach Lazernik has been with Bronco Track & Field since 2002. In his first year of coaching the high jump his athletes captured both the male and female Division I individual titles . He ran track (sprints) in high school in addition to playing football and basketball. He has also been a freshman football coach for many years working with defensive backs, wide receivers and running backs. Marc graduated from the University of Maryland in 1979 and has been a resource specialist at RBHS since 1999. He has also been the senior class advisor for 15 years. Coach Lazernik is married to Marilyn and has a daughter Emily (20).
